Using Math on My 2003 Baseball Trip
Extra Credit

Assume the following hypothetical problem:
We arrive at Arizona stadium on Tuesday only to have the game rained out. On Wednesday we are scheduled to be in San Diego for a 7:00 o'clock game. This is a 322 mile trip. The next night (Thursday) we need to be in Oakland for a 7:35 start. This trip is 485 miles. Using a very popular theorum, and the diagram to the right, calculate the miles it would take to get back to Arizona from Oakland. Then tell me if the game was at 1:05 pm the following day (Friday), and we drove an average of 65 miles an hour, could we get back in time for the Diamondback Game that Friday?
Note: We will leave Oakland at 11pm after the game and also rest for 4 hours during the night.
